Invasion, , 2020, acrylic, mixed media on canvas, 30 x 24 inches
A large window centers the painting. There is an ominous feeling on the other side of the wall. The enemy could be anybody and anything - a human, a bug, an idea, an ideology, a mental state. The pink, vulnerable, semiopen window is a gate to the mind and soul, which separates the individual from the world. The invader is powerful in number, persistence, and resilience. As opposed to everything else confined to the surface, the invader rises into a 3D format. As a result, it appears to be overpowering. It is like it gets steam from an outside force. I used split dry pistachio shells heavily covered with acrylic to obtain this effect.
