February to March | The Ladder

Made of flagging tape reinforced with mason's thin rope, this 170 feet pink ladder unites the steps in front of Mount Royal Station with the clock tower room. The imagination will take the viewer up to the tower whereas the body will remain grounded, longing for a leap which can not be made but in spirit.
The Ladder is a symbol of ascension, a bridge between two realms: below and above, matter and spirit, mundane and transcendental. The viewer will identify with the essence of the spiritual journey taking place at MICA. Looking up from the area of an ordinary parking lot to the top of the majestic clock tower one will have the revelation that enlightenment is reached gradually, step by step, that talent alone is simply not enough and the achievement of higher realms of consciousness tapping into Eternity is a long, transformative, ethereal process.
